Austwide Legal was established in 2016 and provides advice in relation to land access, tenure compliance, native title and heritage for mining and exploration companies in Western Australia

Austwide Legal can assist you in the following areas:

  • Negotiations for land access agreements for objections under the Mining Act 1978 (WA) including Court appearance
  • Negotiations for land access agreements for objections arising under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) including Tribunal appearance for Future Acts and Right to Negotiate proceedings
  • Providing advice on matters concerning the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 (WA) including preparation of section 18 applications and facilitating heritage surveys
  • Preparation and negotiation of private property agreements, joint venture agreements, sale agreements, assignment and assumption deeds

Lisa Smith - Director | Lawyer

Lisa was admitted in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and High Court of Australia in 2006 having completed her training at the State Solicitors Office.

Lisa specialises in statutory regulation and compliance and has extensive experience working within complex legal frameworks across commercial, criminal and administrative law.

Wendy Treasure - Lawyer

Wendy Treasure - Lawyer


Wendy Treasure is a specialist resources lawyer with a background in native title law in Canada and Australia, and more recently established a mining law and policy education project in Ghana. She was admitted to practice in WA in 2002 and has an LLM in Mining Law and Policy.

Wendy worked for five years as a native title lawyer for two Aboriginal Land Councils, managed claims in the National Native Title Tribunal and negotiated agreements with government and mining companies.

Wendy’s experience includes drafting high-level agreements in the UK; developing mining law and policy training courses in West Africa and leading global mining law research projects for a variety of organisations. Since 2013, Wendy lectured and tutored at Murdoch Law School.

Daniel Baker - Law Clerk


Daniel is in his final year of law at Murdoch University.

Daniel has a keen interest in energy and resources law and aspires to practice within the area upon his graduation.

During his time at Murdoch University Daniel has taken many leadership roles culminating in his role as the President of the Murdoch Student Law Society. In this role Daniel represents the students interest to the University, legal profession, and wider community. The Society provides events, programs, and services aimed at enriching the Murdoch Law Student Experience.
